While applying gentle pressure, you rotate the pencil in a clockwise or anti-clockwise motion, depending on the sharpener's design. Shavings Collection: As the pencil is sharpened, the shavings are collected in a container attached to the bottom of the sharpener. This container can be removed or opened to empty the shavings when it becomes full.
